FORMER Bahrain resident, author and publisher Robin Barratt’s new anthology My Mental Health has hit the shelves.
The non-fiction compilation features the words of 66 writers and poets from around the world, openly talking about their personal journeys with mental health.
The striking book cover is illustrated by Bahrain-based visual artist Anju Kapoor, who said that it allowed her to express her own ‘vulnerability’.
“The two faces in my painting are not opposites; they are parts of the same soul,” the Manama resident told GulfWeekly.
“One holds the burden of invisible battles, while the other turns gently towards hope. The colours flow into one another to remind us that healing is not the absence of darkness but the inner courage to let light find its way through it,” explained the 54-year-old.
Being on the autistic spectrum, Robin has had many mental health challenges throughout his life. Presently living in Norwich, he has published more than 60 titles so far, including six non-fiction, true crime titles and three anthologies about Bahrain.
