Elevating your game

To manage your game well on the course it is important to understand the distance you hit each club. Generally, experienced golfers will know their approximate distance for each number on flat terrain.

Golf course designers lay out a course with changes in elevation to add perspective and to challenge players. Therefore, when you are faced with a change in elevation, this can affect how far the ball flies before landing.

When playing uphill, the ball will hit the ground earlier, so extra club is needed to reach the desired distance. For downhill shots, the ball will stay in the air longer and less club would be required.
