Deon van Niekerk won the third round of the Audi quattro Cup Series at Royal Golf Club last weekend with a score of 37 points from a three-quarter handicap. Bahrain national team member Hamad Afnan finished second with 36 points, beating Sebastian Woodrow on count-back.

Mohamed Al Sayed extended his lead at the top of the order of merit with 31 points on the day giving him 100 points across three rounds. Ronan Smith, Rehman Tipu and van Niekerk are all with four points.

Each competitors best four scores from the first five rounds plus their final round score will count towards their series score. The series winners of the Bahrain tournament will have an opportunity to go forward and compete in the World Finals, which this year will be held at the Golf Club Schwarzsee in Kitzbühel, Austria, in September.

The next round of the series will take place at Royal Golf Club on Friday, March 16.

With more than 100,000 players competing in 750 tournaments in 54 countries annually, the Audi quattro Cup has developed into the biggest worldwide amateur golf tournament series.
