World headlines this week – Paris Hilton sentenced to 45 days in prison. It’s about time!
Let’s face it, she should have been arrested years ago for her criminal attempts at acting and for just basically being one of the most irritating women on the face of the planet. Most would say that her singing is equally arrest-worthy but in the interest of honesty I have to shamefully admit my toe does do a little tap when one of her songs comes on so I’ll leave that one alone.
On to the real reason she was sentenced though, top marks to the judge for making an example of her; banned from driving after being caught driving under the influence and then blatantly flaunting the ban and getting behind the wheel again.
She’s claimed many a time that she’s not really the dumb blonde she pretends to be and although it takes a very large stretch of the imagination to believe her, let’s say just for arguments sake that she’s right. That would mean that she made the educated decision to break the law and that her courtroom claim of: “I’m sorry and I did not mean to do it on purpose at all” is stretching the imagination.
If, on the other hand, we assume the much more likely scenario that she really is the dumb blonde she portrays than maybe, just maybe, she thought that despite being one of the most photographed women on the planet she might just get away with driving down the road anonymously.
