The father and son pairing of Abdulla and Ali Al Hajeri won this year’s Calvet Gents Pairs Matchplay Series at Riffa Golf Club while Aidan McNulty and John Sutcliffe came second.
The pairings of Ed Daly-Phil Durnford and Kevin Kruger-Adam Piggin were the other competitors who took part in the semi-finals after an eight-week long series of matches.
Riffa’s golf operations supervisor Steven Munro. “The Al Hajeris were ahead by 3 holes on two different occasions but were pegged back to all square both times. They finally won on the 18th by just 1 hole.”
A prize-giving reception was held in the club’s Braids Restaurant at the conclusion of play where prizes were presented by Chris Charters, beverage manager for BMMI, the sponsors of the series.
