Gulf Weekly Gloves are off for charity auction!

BAHRAIN’S Palm Association has raised almost a quarter of a million dinars – and this Friday evening’s Palm Association Charity Auction Ball at the Sheraton Hotel will push them closer to the milestone figure.

“This is our fifth charity ball, and on average we’ve raised between BD13,000 and 16,000 over the years. This year we’re hoping to top it,” said Palm Association committee member, Nadia Swan.
Since their launch in 2000 the charity, which provides assistance to local families and individuals, has raised a phenomenal BD223,000.
Palm Association founding member Kirsti Shaheen said: “We’ve got some great prizes this year. Cathay Pacific have given us two great packages, each containing two tickets to Hong Kong with onward connections to Asia, Australia and New Zealand. We’ve also got four tickets to Dubai, and there will also be lots of spot prizes.”
Some of the auction’s highlights are handbags made by Todds, Marc Jacobs and Etro, and watches made by Breitling, Diesel and Burberry. There is also a fishing trip to Dubai for six people, with two air tickets and hotel accommodation included.
And motor racing fans are sure to squabble over the gloves worn by heartthrob Jenson Button at this year’s Bahrain F1. At the time of going to press, 200 tickets have been sold, but there is still room for 100 more guests.
