Check out Bud Music ... Live event at Likwid tonight. Abri, a funk-soul group from the UAE, will be supported by Bahrain’s local rock musicians Neverland at this month’s Bud Music … Live tonight.
Abri are Dubai’s newest and freshest funk-soul group who have brought a new sound to the Middle East, whilst maintaining a very natural appeal. With their first single being released this month and their album “Sunchild" to be released at the end of this year Abri are a band music critics believe are destined to hit the big time. The four-piece band consists of vocalist Hamdan, Julian on the piano, Justin on bass and drummer Andre. Abri will hit the stage just after 11pm. Neverland were formed after a local university talent show and describe their style as ‘Melodic Heavy Metal’. The band comprises of Farooq, Ali, Salah, Abdulla, and Nasser. Likwid’s Mr. K rounds off the evening with an eclectic DJ set from 12.30pm – 2am Entrance Fee: BD3; Doors Open: 9pm; Likwid, City Centre Hotel, Manama Over a six-month period “Bud Music..Live” and Likwid will be hosting the live music night once a month, which plans to incorporate some of the traditional Battle of the Band competition elements. Local bands that have entered have been invited to battle it out in this live music competition. Each band is allocated one of the gig dates and will play a 45-minute set as support for the evenings headline international act. The bands will be judged by Samir Habib Allah, Abdul Wahab Mohammed and Gulf Weekly’s Marie Claire on their versatility, musical ability, originality and their live performance. A contest spokesman said: “It takes the elements of BOTB that everybody enjoyed, namely live music in a fantastic atmosphere but in addition it provides music lovers with the opportunity to witness some accomplished international bands here in Bahrain on a regular basis.”
