Gulf Weekly Students shine in Dubai event

ST CHRISTOPHER'S School junior golf team gave a good account of themselves at the Arabian Ranches Course Junior Open in Dubai with Sam Hobday finishing second with best nett score of 70.

In section ‘B’, Ayman Al Saeed (net 68) finished first and Peter Sayers third.
A squad of nine players comprising Daniel Owen, Sam Hobday, Suzanna Hobday, Hani Fadlallah, Tabea Lutz, Peter Sayers, Adam Cross, Ayman Al Saeed and Kevin Kruger accompanied by teachers Barry and Sarah Hobday played at the Arabian Ranches Course on the first day. They took on Emirates Golf Club’s junior members on the second.
The challenging Arabian Ranches Golf Course is a 6,531 yard par 72 and attracted some of the finest Middle East golfers like Matthew Turner (+1) and Khalid Yousif (+2) as well as others from around the world.
Matthew Turner and Khalid Yousif were part of the Emirates Juniors team and they helped defeat St Christopher’s 250-214 based on the seven best individual stableford scores.
Daniel Owen (36) recorded the best individual stableford score for St Christopher’s with Tom Seabrook (34) second. Sam Hobday won the nearest the pin prize with a nine iron shot, landing just two inches from the hole.
