Adventurer Sami Kooheji set off on Monday afternoon to create a new record which will see him as the first person to sail from Bahrain to Dubai non-stop in a dingy.
The challenge will be an incredible endurance test for the Olympic competitor and could take a strength-sapping 75 hours, as revealed exclusively in a recent edition of Gulf Weekly. The trip covers Bahraini, Qatari and AUE territories which range from smooth to extremely rough waters with strong currents and busy shipping lanes. Sami, 23, from Saar, a second officer with Air Arabia, said: “I am ready for the challenge!” Gulf Weekly chief photographer T. Andrew Morton is on board a support vessel and we will feature a selection of his images highlighting the adventure in next week’s edition.
