• The Goan hospitality, cultural heritage and music will take centre stage during the Young Goans’ Club May Queen Ball hosted at the Delmon International Hotel, from 8pm. Two fashion shows will be staged during the evening – one sponsored by Max will feature smart and trendy wear and the second will see women modeling formal dresses. This will be followed by a question and answer session. Prizes include airline tickets, jewellery and electronic items. The fashion show will be choreographed by Kevin D’Cunha. • Sixteen women are vying to be crowned as the Indian Club’s May Queen 2007. The pageant starts at 8pm at the Manama venue. Reigning Miss India World Sarah Jane Dias will attend the event and the winner will be crowned by the Reigning May Queen, Filipina Elaine Quitevis. The contest will consist of three rounds of catwalk, ethnic wear, party wear and smart casual wear. The event will also feature the Aryan Fame band. • A Latin concert titled ‘Salsa Addiction’ will be held at the Gulf Air Club in Salmabad. Local bands Havana, Montana and Al Shmoa will perform at the event which starts at 8pm. Havana will play the best of Latin music covers from the Gypsy Kings to Esperanza while Montana will perform with their unique style of Arabic/Latin music based on their own material. • A red carpet welcome awaits ‘stars’ at the latest Desi (Indian) dance event by Big J entertainment. VJ Kubra from Zee Arabia is being flown in to take interviews; DJ Nabeel will be warming up with “loungy” rhythm and blues tunes. DJ Brad will spin commercial Bollywood tunes and DJ Kunal will wrap it off with his exclusive Psychedellic Goa Trance.
