More than 700 people attended the successful Corona beach party held at the Bahrain Yacht Club.
The two-day event hosted by African and Eastern provided fun for the whole family. The event featured a variety of games including human foosball, volley ball, tug-of-war, dolphin watch and more. A barbecue buffet was laid out and further entertainment was provided by DJ Olas.
A dinner reception was hosted by the Inner Wheel Club at the Mercure Hotel, Seef District. It featured a get-together where the club’s outgoing committee headed by president Lamiya Al Balooshi handed over responsibilities to the new executive committee for 2007-2008 headed by Ringin Maklai. It was attended by the members and guests.
The Second Telugu Kala Samiti – Devji Inter-Indian Association open drawing competition was held at the samiti premises in Manama. More than 80 children participated in the event organised in co-operation with Devji Jewellers.
A seminar on Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) was held at the Elite Suite Hotel, Sanabis. More than 20 people attended the one-day certification seminar, which was conducted by visiting trainer, hypnotherapist and specialist Beryl Comar Fowler.
The American Women’s Association donated BD500 to British Airways at their Al A’ali Mall office, Seef, in support of Dreamflight Bahrain. It was presented by AWA president Mona Omar to Dreamflight Bahrain co-ordinator Deborah Beedie in the presence of AWA community service chairwoman Laila Hussain and BA finance assistant Maha Al Abbas.
Visiting International President of the Toastmaster Johnny Uy chartered new Toastmaster clubs at a ceremony held at the Alba Club. He also visited Y K Almoayyed & Sons to thank its management for their support. He met chief executive Alan Guest and YK Toastmasters Club members.
More than 200 students from the K G Kids and Palms Primary School participated in their end-of-the-year show at the Gulf Air Club, Salmabad. The children, aged 18 months to eight years, performed songs and dances based on the theme Feed the World to entertain parents, teachers and invited guests.
More than BD15,000 was raised for Alia Centre for Early Intervention at a charity designer clothes sale. Bags, shoes, clothes and accessories went on sale at the event, which was held at a private residence in Saar. The fund-raiser was organised by society member Sahar Juma and a group of volunteers. Alia For Early Intervention is a non-profit centre in Sitra, which was established by the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural and Communication Difficulties in 2004. The money will be used to buy equipment for the school, to sponsor children and pay for teachers.
