Bahrain Hotels Company announced that its portfolio will operate under the name Gulf Hotels Group (GHG) with immediate effect.

Bahrain Hotels Company BSC is a public limited liability company quoted on the Bahrain Stock Exchange which was incorporated in 1967.

The vision of Bahrain Hotels Company was to provide a standard of hospitality unrivalled on the island, which was duly delivered with the original five star property - the Gulf Hotel.

Forty years later, the philosophy remains the same although the company has changed beyond recognition, continually expanding and upgrading to meet the modern-day demands both in the hospitality and beverage sector.

Gulf Hotels Group owns and operates Gulf Hotel Bahrain, Gulf Executive Residence, Gulf Convention Centre (formerly Gulf International Convention and Exhibition Centre) and Gulf Brands International (formerly Gulf Cellar).

Gulf Hotels Group has established an excellent reputation for its ability to manage a broad portfolio of hospitality-related assets and continues to display this trust with the management of the Ocean Paradise Resort, Zanzibar on behalf of Paradise Realty Holdings EC.

Chairman Farouk Almoayyed: "The decision to rename the company underscores GHG's belief in the name and reputation. Gulf Hotel is legendary and synonymous with hospitality within the region.

"Existing agreements that we have with our partners will remain in place providing a comfortable benchmark for the present and future operations."

Group chief executive officer Aqeel Raees said: "Gulf Hotels Group will create a single and strong identity for all our operations, creating a platform to build and expand the group within the region and globally.

"Locally Gulf Hotel has built a strong reputation for its hospitality and service, which was rewarded in 2006, with the World Travel Awards, Bahrain's Leading Hotel."
