IT was a happier scene this year as I walked into the Dogfather's - Tony Waters - animal haven.

Gone was the heart-breaking sight of Scruffy, hooked up to a drip, and in its place was a cacophony of happy barking as a dozen or so dogs jumped over each other to say hello.

Having eventually been granted a charity licence, Tony is now able to try and raise money to help with the upkeep of his ever growing brood.

And the first such event is a charity auction to take place on May 2 at Krumz Bistro in Adliya.

Ingeniously, the price of entry is a can of dog food and people will be able to bid on a wide range of items that have been donated by anyone with anything to spare.

So if you're an animal lover as well as a Friday brunch regular, swap your usual location and head down to Krumz for what is bound to be a fun-fuelled brunch bonanza.

And if you already have plans and can't make it on the day, then why not find something you'd be happy to donate to the cause and drop it down to Krumz.

Tony's door is also always open for anyone wishing to help out and spend time playing and groaning anyone of his multitude of wonderfully affectionate dogs.
