AN ICE HOCKEY information session will be staged at 10am on October 3 for all parents of children interested in playing the sport at the ice skating rink at Funland, Manama.

Youngsters are also being invited to get their skates on and join in weekly training sessions held at the arena every Saturday from 9am-10.30am.

The sport is growing in popularity, as reported in GulfWeekly. "We have a fantastic group of young adults who volunteer their time to teach the kids. They are ice hockey players themselves who play weekly on the bigger rinks in Saudi as well as here in Bahrain," said Andrea Kenna, one of the team managing the junior ice hockey players.

"The team is open to all ages - from five to 18 - and skill levels. Our only need is that the child should know to skate and our coaches can do the rest because they are great at splitting the kids up into different skill groups for drills and practice time."

Last Saturday 10 children turned up for training under senior ice hockey players Rick Weitzel and Bill Kelly. For more information, contact Kenna at 39923764.
