The Faldo Series Asia Middle East Championship is all set to get underway with several exciting events taking place on the periphery of the tournament itself.

The competition will make its debut at the Royal Golf Club on Friday and Saturday and is open to local and expatriate golfers aged 12 to 21 from the Arab world as they compete for a place in the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final in China, hosted by six-time Major winner Nick Faldo.

"A full itinerary is now in place for the practice day on Thursday as well as the two days of the actual tournament," explained Phil Jones, director of operations at the Royal Golf Club. "I'm delighted to confirm that Geoff Swain, the world trick show champion has agreed to put on a show at the Club on Saturday as the finale to the tournament and prize-giving ceremony.

"We have over 60 youngsters signed up for the competition and I'm sure they and their parents will have a fantastic time watching Geoff and his show partner Kevin Carpenter performing some awesome tricks."

In addition to the trick show, two special player development sessions will be held for the competitors, one conducted by PGA professional and NLP practitioner Martin Robinson entitled 'Train the Brain' and another entitled 'Fitness for Golf' conducted by Nathan Williams, a personal trainer and manager of the Royal Country Club.

A special golf clinic will also be held to introduce both adults and children to the sport. The one-hour clinic will start at the Royal Golf Academy at 1pm on Saturday.

"Everyone is welcome to the clinic which is a great way to show novices what golf is all about," said Jones. "We hope to see plenty of visitors down at the Club on the Saturday."

The Middle East Championship is one of 15 Faldo Series Asia tournaments in 12 different countries during 2009/2010, including four in mainland China plus one each in Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam.
