Welcome to my last column for 2009, but rest assured 2010 promises to be filled with lots of events to keep everyone occupied.
The Christmas period allows so much to happen; many horses having worked hard are allowed some well deserved rest and relaxation as their owner's jet off.
Whilst those who are here enjoying the festive period, many use it to catch up on more recreational riding. It's a fantastic time of the year to ride as horses love the cooler weather - maybe NOT the rain! and are fresh and ready to go. From what I hear its pretty much all been for fun and with lots of kids returning from their schools and universities overseas, it's a fantastic chance to help exercise and give horses some well deserved fun. And stories of super cool hacks across the desert are coming thick and fast.
The start of the New Year will also see events coming thick and fast, starting with the Twin Palms Dressage, which had to be postponed from 18th of December; don't forget to get your entries in for that by January 5.
Twin Palms will also be running the second of their Dressage League events on January 15, which will see Novice, Elementary and Medium tests performed.
Another event is the Giants Endurance Challenge to be held on January 9.
The BREEF (Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation) will host a full schedule of show jumping events and I am currently waiting confirmation on these dates.
I can also confirm that Ian Wright will be returning to Bahrain to continue his fantastic training in both dressage and show jumping. Ian will be back here on February 13, and whilst it seems a long way off, lots of pre-bookings have been made and he is already on his way to being fully booked for the two weeks he will be in Bahrain.
