There was a great turnout for Shakhoora Riding Centre's first show jumping event this season, sponsored by Things To Do and Blue Dawn, with more than 125 entries in the seven classes, writes Helen Blake.

Getting the show under way was the Junior 1 Class, which was neatly won by Kathryn Spink riding Dilmun Tess. The second Junior class was won by Hadi Al Afoo and Rikki Tikki Tavi - already mentioned as one to watch in previous columns, this horse was in top form. Hadi and Rikki were the only pair in the Junior 3 Class who were able to complete the course with a clear round, therefore claiming their second win of the day.

Between the junior classes, the adult Green Horse/Rider class was run, with several new riders in the fray and all did well, with many clear rounds. Well done all of you and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon.

As expected, the Pairs class was entertaining, with 15 pairs of juniors and adults vying for first place. There were thrills and spills, twists and turns, as fierce competition raged and eventually emerging triumphant were Basel Al Dossari riding Dilmun Tayar, partnered with Annabel Manly riding Dilmun Fallah.

The adult Novice class witnessed more excellent riding, with the jump off yielding some incredibly fast times and victory was taken by Muslim Ali astride Al Jazeera.

The Adult Intermediate class, produced no clear rounds, the winner once again Al Dossari on a different mount, Rangerino.

The final prize of the day was for Best Turned Out horse and rider, and this went to newcomer Ellen Goode and Mystery.
