The GulfWeekly Premiership Cup staged two more exciting action-packed games last Monday evening at the British School which resulted in contrasting fortunes for some of the fancied sides.

First up was the eagerly-anticipated encounter between early league leaders Wahooo! and the Dilmun Club - both coming off the back of excellent first week victories.

Dilmun captain Dave Lord opened the scoring with a deflected free kick. Wahooo!, to their credit, kept battling away and got on level terms midway through the first half with a well-worked goal from L Mahdi Oumezdi.

Dilmun, however, nudged ahead with a great effort from Ian Charlton and were looking good for a second straight victory before a late surging run from Oumezdi managed to squeeze in an equaliser. There was late drama when 'the Essien like' Dave Ellison forced in a late winner to send Wahooo! fans into ecstasy.

The change in the water park's fortune followed the introduction of Krazy Kevin, the drive-home Radio Bahrain presenter who learned his football trade the hard way - swerving around Tottenham-supporting donkeys on Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Chairman of the League, Paul Millington, made a special mention about the celebrity's debut for Wahooo!. He said: "Working in showbiz must be taxing on the DJ as he was strapped up like an Egyptian mummy!"

One Dilmun player was particularly rueing the last-ditch defeat. Eamon Egan was lucky to stay on the pitch after his 'Hand of God-style' goal attempt was disallowed. The Irishman, involved in a dramatic free transfer from Wahooo! to Dilmun just hours before the season kicked off, was probably suffering from eating too many sizzling sausages at breakfast.

In the second game between AC Jurassic and the Saar Eagles, the former were coming into the game on the back of a great derby victory against the British Club and the Eagles were still smarting from a 4-3 loss to the Dilmun Club. The Eagles got off to a flyer, scoring in the second minute with a strike from James McCrystal.

Jurassics, however, fought their way back with some decent passing moves and deservedly got an equaliser with a swift counter-attack resulting in a close finish from James Ilk.

The second half, however, saw the Eagles retake the lead with another goal from ace marksman Paul Geddes and the match was effectively ended when the Jurassics keeper spilled a cross into his own goal to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead.

McChrystal bagged his brace before the final whistle for a 4-1 scoreline and helped ease the painful memories of their previous fixture.

The results opened up the league table nicely with only Rugby Club and Wahoo with 100 per cent records. Next week will see the 'teacher showdown' between the British School and St Christopher's.
