Over BD750 was raised at the Royal Golf Club's San Diego Special tournament and the funds will be used to send two promising young Bahrain-based golfers to compete in the prestigious Callaway Junior World Championships in San Diego, United States, next month.
Over 50 competitors took part in the fund-raising betterball stableford tournament, each trying to beat the points total of 17-year-old Bahraini Dhari Al Borshaid and 16-year-old Sam Hobday. Those who didn't manage to beat the duo's score of 43 points had to make a donation to the fund set up for their trip.
A small number of teams did manage to beat the youngsters - the pairing of Paul Cotterill and Karl Crimes scored a massive 46 points to take first place
Anyone interested in making a donation to support Dhari and Sam's trip can contact Phil Jones at the Royal Golf Club on e-mail p.jones@theroyalgolfclub.com
