ARTIST Arthur Dsouza is holding a solo exhibition titled 'Pieces of Me' at the Qal'at Al Bahrain Site Museum. Using a technique he refers to as 'positively paper', Arthur creates his work with positive film and coloured paper layered between two sheets of glass, one between the paper fragments and positive film and another on top. It also gives the creations a special luminosity since the glass seems to trap light, while giving the piece something of a 3D effect.
Arthur studied Applied Arts in Mumbai, India, majoring in photography and came to Bahrain in 1986. Here he applied his multi-media skills to developing creative communications solutions, advertising campaigns and events for local and international brands.
Three years ago, he gave up working full time as an advertising executive to concentrate on his artistic endeavours. He has held four group exhibitions and one solo as well as been an active member of art society, Elham. The themes of his work have also taken a new direction from the landscapes and portraits captured on his travels that featured in his first solo exhibition in 2007 - 'World Piece'.
The exhibition will be held until July 3 from 8am to 9pm daily. For more details contact the artist on 39623381 or email arthurthemonk@gmail.com
