Wednesday (August 4) A workshop for upcoming designers is being held by visiting experts from Spain at the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture & Research in Muharraq. An exhibition is also being held at The Arts Centre next to the Bahrain National Museum. This is part of the Design Road event hosted by DarOttakwin where designers from Barcelona's Creative Dialogue Association share their experiences through workshops, seminars and an exhibition. The Grand Finale of Plugged In - the B Guitar Master contest will take place at the Z Club, Pars International Hotel, Juffair. All nine weekly winners from the four-week talent contest will be competing for the grand prize of $1,000 (BD378), with the first runner-up winning $500 (BD189) and the second runner up $300 (BD113.4) and gift vouchers. The Mera Bharat Mahaan competition, otherwise known as a patriotic song contest being held to mark India's Independence Day is being held by the Kasaragod District Pravasi Association-Bahrain (KDPA) at 6.30pm at the Priyadarshini Hall in the South Park restaurant in Manama. Mums in Bahrain will host Little Picassos drawing competition at A'ali Shopping Complex on August 6 from 10am to 9pm for children under 12 years. The artworks will be judged by a panel of qualified art critics which previously included Ella Prakash from the Ella Prakash Art Gallery, Rashid Al Oraifi of The Oraifi Gallery, Khalid Al Muharraqi from the prestigious Muharraqi Studios and Jaffar Al Oraibi. Artworks will be judged based on originality, creativity, theme interpretation and artistic quality for each age group. Awards will be announced on August 15. Registration costs BD3. Alliance Francaise Bahrain is hosting the work of GrŽgory Lasserre and Ana•s van den Ancxt at an interactive art exhibition named 'Akousmaflore & Ombres' that will remain open until October 31 in Isa Town. The artists utilise interactive art, music and architecture in order to create evolutionary and interactive artwork. In addition to this the Alliance Francaise Bahrain CinŽ-club will be starting again in September and have several film showings, including the film Lumumba on September 16 and 23, and Bamako on September 30. Sunday (Aug 8)

The Mad Science Ramadan Camp will run from today until September 2, Sunday-Thursday, 10am-1pm. For children aged six and above, it is a chance to get involved in four weeks of interactive Mad Science experiments with a different theme each week. Being held at Studio Ceramics on Budaiya Highway at their party room. Each day includes a new Mad Science topic presented with fun, interactive experiments and a Mad Science educational science take-home. Entry fee is BD15 per day or BD60 per week.
