Members of the Bahrain City Centre management team have been leading by example to ensure the Make a Difference this Ramadan community campaign continues its ‘giving momentum’ after a promising start.
GulfWeekly has linked up with the mall to back its initiative which encourages customers to donate everyday items many take for granted such as clothing, books, eye glasses and mobile phones.
A special collection box has been placed in the mall to allow big-hearted readers to make donations.
Staff members spared a few minutes from their busy schedules this week to rush downstairs and drop off their contributions to the good cause.
Chadi El Sayfi, manager of promotions and media, donated a bag of children’s clothes. He said: “God gives you and you give to the poor. Ramadan Kareem means adapting forgiving hearts and lending a helpful hand to those in need and if you are able to give, why not?”
Dipti Bhatia, promotion and events co-ordinator, said: “This year we are encouraging visitors to contribute used clothing and we have been receiving a superb response. It is hard to find a place where people can donate used belongings on the island and this donation drive offers a great place for shoppers and visitors to do so.”
Operations manager Sadiq Al Oraibi, 32, from A’ali, added: “Last year we chose the Bahrain Red Crescent Society and this year its the Awali Thrift Shop. We hope this drive will encourage other charities to get involved as well.
Being charitable is a good habit and especially so during this Holy Month of Ramadan. There is always something at home that we don’t use and which we can give to the needy.”
Goods donated will be sorted for distribution by members of the Awali Thrift Shop, the renowned charity champions who have been supporting those in need throughout the kingdom for 43 years.
The collection box is located on the ground floor behind the customer services desk at the mall.
