Talented children aged six and above are invited to audition for the upcoming MASK production, Annie, to be staged later this year at the Cultural Hall in Manama.
The acting, singing and dancing auditions will take place on Friday, at the British School of Bahrain.
The hit Broadway musical will be directed by Vicky Sheban of Victoria Dance and singing teacher Lydia Martin. It is a first time collaboration between the two artistes. Lydia said: “Not everyone has to be a great dancer or a great singer but all children and students selected will need to be enthusiastic and dynamic with a real sense of spirit.
“Although traditionally the characters in Annie are mainly girl orphans we will be altering the show to include a cast of mixed boy and girl orphans. Older students and adults are also invited to audition for the parts of Lily, Miss Hannigan, Rooster and Daddy Warbucks.”
Annie is a Broadway musical based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the book by Thomas Meehan. The original Broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years.
It spawned numerous productions in many countries, as well as national tours, and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The songs Tomorrow and It’s the Hard-Knock Life are among its most popular musical numbers.
Contact Lydia or Vicky on 39047734 or 39402357 to sign up for an audition. It will cost BD5 and last around 80 minutes.
