Gulf Weekly Write to the editor

I REALLY enjoyed reading Mai Al Khatib’s TravelWeekly article about Turkey in last week’s issue. It reaffirmed my plans to visit the country. My only problem has always been ‘wanting to do too much’ there – the Black Sea, Cappadocia, blue mosque. I wanna do it all!

OCTOBER is Breast Cancer Awareness Month worldwide. World Beat Fitness Centre is running its 6th annual Fitness for the Cure, open day to raise funds for Think Pink Bahrain. The event will be held on Saturday, October 15, from 9am until 1 pm at its premises in Janabiya. To date, World Beat has raised over BD30,000 for this worthy cause.

During the event World Beat’s teachers are volunteering to teach classes for free. The general public will pay a nominal fee to attend. All proceeds along with any donations will go to Think Pink Bahrain. Classes will be open to ladies only in the morning and include Nia, Pilates, Belly Dancing, Yoga, Zumba, BodyVive, BodyBalance and children’s activities.

There will be exciting door prizes and fun, not-to-be-missed half-time entertainment. Children under-12 will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Don’t miss a fun day out for mums, teens and kids!

PHOTOGRAPHY is one of my hobbies and whenever I get a chance to take an image I try to create a story with it.
Recently I went to see the Al Fateh Grand Mosque for the first time with a friend who was visiting from India.

The visiting section staff members were very helpful and gave us a warm welcome.

We were given detailed information about the mosque’s history, interior, the dome, the material used for construction and the importance of it.

I’d like to share with GulfWeekly readers some of the photographs I took of the mosque’s impressive interior. Hopefully this will allow me to share with others the joy and happiness I experienced there.

People from other religious communities who visit the Grand Mosque will get a chance to understand more about Islam and places of worship.
