The competition in this season’s Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain Ladies League is fierce with all sides hungry for glory and the chance to lift the coveted GulfWeekly trophy.
Arsenal Blue entertained new league recruits Bahrain U16 national team. The first 15 minutes remained goalless until U16 striker Noor Anwar unleashed a brilliant shot from outside the box. Fellow forwards Reem Murad and Noor Ali contributed to the win by bagging a goal each.
Despite Blue’s captain Rama Salem pulling one back the nationals remained in charge and the scoreline was a comfortable 3-1 victory.
Arsenal Blue are now fourth in the table with the U16 side leapfrogging them into third.
St Christopher’s Seniors and Intermediates later put on a thrilling show for the crowd. An all-action derby saw the Seniors wasting little time to nudge in front thanks to forward Rebecca ‘Becks’ Sharrock.
From then on it was a one-way trafficas Sharrock picked up six goals, while midfielder Tamara Kawash and right winger Millie Gallagher added to the juniors’ misery. The Intermediates’ defender Jana Al Afoo notched a consolation goal to make the final result 8-1.
The Seniors have moved up to the top of the table.
The final game of last week featured Arsenal Red against an unbeaten Joga Bonito. Forward Riahana Ahmed nabbed the first goal for Joga and strikers Sara Al Aali and Fatima Al Ansari bagged two apiece for a 5-0 rout.
On Monday evening Arsenal Red played Eastern Flames, St Christopher’s Seniors took on Arsenal Blue while Bahrain U16 up against Joga Bonito. All fixtures were held at Batelco’s spo
