There are no limits to what some people will do to help animals – Colin and Rhiannon Martin-Howes, pictured above, being one example – as they are prepared to throw themselves off a bridge in Phuket, Thailand, on a sponsored bungee jump for the Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA).
Colin and his wife have undergone major surgery in the past two years, so you’d think they be happy to sit back and take things easy but no, they’ve decided they’re going to do something completely mad and, despite being scared out of their wits at the thought, (Rhiannon is also afraid of heights!) they won’t let this stop them in their quest!
They plan to make the jump this December and have offered to make it a sponsored event with all proceeds going to the BSPCA.
The Martin-Howes arrived in Bahrain 10 years ago and both work at Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School.
Rhiannon is head of High School Science and Colin works as the Lab Technician there. Both are great animal lovers and currently have two dogs and six cats (one dog and one cat being former BSPCA animals). Scoot, their eldest dog of 12 years is the only pet who is not a rescue animal.
So come on everybody, make it worth their while. Get your dinars out and sponsor them!
We made BD2,000 one year on a sponsored slim, from one very committed lady who said she’d lose 20kgs in two months. She did it, and a friend doubled the amount she raised. Can we better that we ask?
If you would like to sponsor Colin and Rhiannon please contact Colin through Facebook or call him on 36128040.

It is with great pleasure that we inform you that the recent Ecumenical Conference of Charity (ECC) Benefit Dinner & Dance held on October 5 at the Al Fanar Restaurant, Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa was a resounding success.
The evening was well appreciated and enjoyed by more than 300 guests. All proceeds collected from the event will be used to provide food, medical and repatriation assistance to migrant workers, treatment help for cancer patients, educational grants to needy students and for Bahrain community projects.
On behalf of the ECC, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to you for your support and acknowledge your valuable encouragement to our work of service.
Thank you for all the press coverage.
Rev Stephen T. Paul, president ECC Bahrain.
Thanks so much for the great coverage of the ladies Think Pink golfing extravaganza. Dena from the winning team was delighted, especially after another publication printed the gents’ winning team photo alongside the ladies report!
