TO begin with, I would like to wish all our readers a Happy New Year!

As the old year ends and the festive season associated with the month of December comes to a close we sometimes end up feeling let down and depressed. Yet, the beginning of the New Year proves to be another chance for celebration, and for most of the globe the start of January represents a time to reflect on what would have inevitably been a busy year.

Whilst most of the world has now adopted January 1 as the official start of the New Year, there are those who still mark the start of their new year on different dates. The Chinese New Year, for example, will take place on February 10 this year. Yet, regardless of culture, it is clear that the New Year is a time for communal celebration.

As one of the world’s oldest shared traditions, the New Year entails a night of relaxation and enjoyment, with its celebration taking on many forms. Some people will have chosen to spend the night out with friends, letting their hair down until way past midnight.

Then there are others who would prefer to enjoy the entrance into the New Year at home surrounded by family. Regardless of people’s preference, New Year will always be a joyous time celebrated throughout the world.
