The European team ran out winners with a combined score of 157.9 in a Ryder Cup-style match between USA and Europe hosted by the ladies section of the Royal Golf Club and sponsored by Alba Bahrain.
The event also doubled as a party for popular members Elen Rogers and Helen Gallagher who will both be leaving Bahrain shortly. Elen captained the US team and Helen led the European team in the competition.
In a change to the traditional Ryder Cup format, the event was played in a Texas Scramble format due to the windy conditions.
Over 25 ladies players took part in the event and each received a team shirt and hat.
Results – Team Europe (157.9). 1st team: Liz Gardner, Julie Dixon & Tatyana Hurter (68.3). 2nd team: Sara Thompson, Evelyn Rimmer, Karin Lutz & Hilde Kwik (69.6). Nearest the pins: Sara Thompson (hole 7) & Shana Murray (hole 12). Longest putt: Liz Gardner (hole 9) & Joy Groves (hole 18). Longest drive: Linda Boland (hole 3) & Joy Groves (hole 15).
