The new BMW 4 Series Coupé was launched in style at the Royal Golf Club Bahrain, driving the marque forward in the kingdom.
It was unveiled to global audiences at the IAA International Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this month and enthusiasts in the kingdom have been eagerly anticipating its arrival ever since.
Representing the fourth generation of BMW’s mid-sized coupé, the new model embodies the sporty nature of the premium segment in every aspect of its design, performance and dynamics, the company says.
The ‘4’ in its model designation signals outstanding styling and positioning while emphasising not only its standalone design, but also an even greater technical differentiation from the BMW 3 Series.
The purposeful design highlights its abilities. Exterior features include a large, wide air-intake in the front apron, which accentuates the vehicle’s increased width.
The new model is visibly larger in width and wheelbase than its predecessor, and it sits considerably lower to the road. This, together with its hallmark BMW short overhangs, a long bonnet and set-back passenger compartment with flowing roofline, gives the BMW 4 Series Coupé a balanced appearance.
Paul Yates, general manager of Euro Motors, said: “The all-new BMW 4 Series Coupé is a great new addition to the impressive line-up of BMW cars that are already on our showroom floor. It offers different design characteristics to the 3 Series model range so we expect this car will attract new customers to the BMW brand.”
The rear is also impressive and boasts a sporty profile. Horizontal lines and L-shaped LED taillights spaced far apart combine to emphasise the car’s muscular wheel arches and wide track. The two tailpipes are enclosed by the bumper and are flanked by small upward sweeps.
Its interior screams sophistication and the cockpit is dominated by BMW individual colours and materials. In addition to a discreet embossed ‘BMW Individual’ designation on the upholstery and entry sills, the seats have decorative hand-plaited leather elements running along the seat edges that are echoed on the foot mats and leather cup holders.
Customisation plays a big part with options are limited only by the owner’s imagination. The BMW 4 Series Coupé has alternate interior options under the ‘Sport’, ‘Luxury’ and ‘Modern’ lines as well as the M Sport Package.
The new model will initially be available with a choice of two BMW TwinPower Turbo engines: 435i and 428i and will be supplemented by the 420i in January 2014. The two engines available from launch, the 3.0-litre six-cylinder 435i and the 2.0-litre four-cylinder 428i, are both direct-injection turbocharged delivering 306bhp and 245bhp respectively.
Prices start from BD24,000.
