Gulf Weekly Premium sports SUV

Euro Motors, the distributor for Land Rover in Bahrain, launched the new Range Rover Sport during a sophisticated event at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa.

Unveiled at the New York Motor Show earlier this year, the new model is the ultimate premium sports SUV and the fastest, most agile and most responsive vehicle ever produced by Land Rover, its makers say.

VIPs and dignitaries, customers and members of the media, had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the SUV thanks to specially-constructed hi-tech electronic tablet columns that allowed guests to take a personality test about what kind of driver they are. In addition there was a programme, which enabled guests to get a better understanding of the driving experience from multiple angles and find out about each individual facet of the iconic vehicle.

Robin Colgan, managing director for Jaguar Land Rover MENA, said: “The new Range Rover Sport is a vehicle that has been designed and engineered without compromise, making it the ultimate premium sports SUV.

“This is a vehicle that has garnered a huge amount of attention from customers across the globe since the unveiling at the New York Motor Show just a few short months ago, and I’ve no doubt there is just as much anticipation amongst customers here in Bahrain.”

Using lightweight suspension design and dynamic chassis technologies, the Sport’s new, first-in-class aluminium architecture achieves a weight saving of up to 420kg. This transforms the vehicle’s performance, enabling it to blend agile handling with comfort.

It has a bold and progressive exterior design that hints at the improved driving performance and positions the vehicle clearly between the Range Rover and the Range Rover Evoque through clear, shared design DNA.

Under the bonnet, customers will have a choice of two supercharged petrol engines, the 5.0-litre V8 and the new 3.0-litre V6. The engines are paired with the advanced electronically controlled ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Across the range, acceleration times for the 0-100kmph dash start from 5.0 seconds, while fuel consumption is cut by up to 24 per cent – depending on the model.

New or enhanced chassis technologies include Adaptive Dynamics featuring Continuously Variable Dampers, and on more powerful models, a dedicated Dynamic mode in the Terrain Response 2 system for enthusiastic on-road driving.  This system is combined with twin-channel Dynamic Response active lean control, a Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential, and Torque Vectoring by Braking, which transfers torque to the outside wheels during cornering, reducing understeer.

The new model also introduces a digital camera system which supports three driver assistance features that help deliver improved driver awareness: Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic High Beam Assist.

Zayed Al Zayani, Euro Motors’ managing director, said: “We are honoured to unveil the new Range Rover Sport to our distinguished customers and VIPs in Bahrain. It has long been one of our most popular models here in Bahrain, and we are confident that the new model will exceed customer’s expectations.”

Developed alongside the new Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport now delivers the brand’s best-ever on-road dynamics together with class-leading all-terrain capability.

Prices start from BD39,000. For details, visit the Euro Motors showroom in Sitra or call 17750750.
