THE newest edition of what is undoubtebly one of of the kingdom’s most popular cars, the Toyota Yaris, was unveiled at the weekend.
The launch, by EK Kanoo, which took place at the Toyota showroom, was attended by Takeshi Matsuda, chief engineer – Toyota Motor Corporation, EK Kanoo management and hoards of visitors eager to catch a glimpse of the new version.
As an exciting and stylish second generation sedan with an uncompromising blend of performance and durability in line with its iconic new design and product direction, the new Yaris offers customers a superior model that stands out with its distinctive profile, its makers say.
Mr Matsuda, said: “With the Yaris, we wanted to help people experience the pride of owning an excellent sedan at a reasonable cost. We also wanted to develop an attractive design that customers would proudly present to their family and friends. I believe with this new model we’ve really succeeded on the design front. Overall, our objective was to deliver tremendous value in every respect such as the enlarged dimensions with a new stylish exterior design and a quality spacious interior that exceeds its class.”
The new model’s exterior design reflects a wide, strong stance, which creates an elegant appearance.
Its overall length and width has been increased. The height has also been increased by 1.5cm. This results in increased headroom and passenger volume.
Inside, the instrument panel runs the entire width of the cabin and ornamentation has been used for various interior features and switches.
A total of eight exterior colours are available, including three newly developed colours.
The Yaris comes with a 1.5-litre and a 1.3-litre engine alternative with the option of a 4-speed automatic gearbox or a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre engine has a maximum output of 107bhp and the 1.3 has a maximum output of 84bhp.
An array of safety features come as standard, such as driver and front-passenger dual-stage airbags including Whiplash Injury Lessening for the front seats, Anti-lock Braking System, Brake Assist and Electronic Brake Force Distribution.
Prices start from BD4,999, in addition to four years/150,000km warrenty.
