Cormac Flannery and playing partner David Wales won the final competition in the popular BMMI Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club (RGC) with a nett score of 23.8.

However, it was the duo of Ali Jassim and Essa Ebrahim who clinched the overall series title with 11 points. The pair took the runners-up spot in the last competition with a nett score of 24.7 while husband and wife Stan and Hilde Kwik came third with nett 25.5.

The competition, which was fully subscribed, was played in the Greensomes format on the Royal Golf Club’s Wee Monty par 3 course.

“Congratulations to Ali and Essa on winning the overall title and to Cormac and David on their win in the final event,” said Jason Mejia, the club’s tournament co-ordinator. “Ali and Essa have played very strongly throughout the series and thoroughly deserved to win. Thanks to BMMI for their generous sponsorship of this series which is always very popular with members and visitors alike.”

The prize presentation took place in the club’s Members’ Lounge and Mejia presented the prizes on behalf of BMMI.

Results: 1 Cormac Flannery & David Wales (23.8 nett), 2 Ali Jassim & Essa Ibrahim (24.7), 3 Stan & Hilde Kwik (25.5). Nearest the pins: Stan Kwik (hole 4) & Essa Ebrahim (hole 7).

Final Order of Merit: 1 Ali Jassim & Essa Ebrahim (11 points), 2 Rajinder Sachdeva & Naeem Khan (8), 3 Matt Boast & James Williamson (7).

Meanwhile, Jassim and Ebrahim clinched top spot in the penultimate week’s Monday Madness series (week 5) with a nett score of 31.4. Ebrahim walked away with a second prize for coming nearest the pin on the 12th hole on which he achieved a rare hole in one.

The win put the pair in second place on the overall order of merit.

The pairing of Matt Boast and James Williamson took second place in the pairs scramble competition with a nett score of 32.5 while Abdulaziz Ahmed and playing partner Ilya Goniker came third with 33 nett.

The next six-week series of Monday Madness Night Golf competition began this week and is once again being sponsored by BMMI. It is open to non-members at BD20 per night for the 9-hole event.
