THE BREEF end-of-season Show Jumping Championship on Saturday had plenty of thrills and spills and even a touch of motoring success. It started with the Junior 1 in which Ahmed Isa claimed his first victory of the day astride the talented Tutu.
Junior 2 was a two-phase class with riders competing in both. The points were added up at the end of the second phase and Ahmed Isa once again triumphed in this class riding Osina to the top podium position. Ali Abdulrasool with his super cool horse, Chilli, took home first prize in Adult 1. The final class was held over two rounds, on two different courses and riders competed in both rounds with their points being combined over both. It was an excellent competition and the final round had spectators on the edge of their seats, one of the riders to go clear in the first round held on to his lead to claim victory in the second. Sami Ghazwan ended the season as he started it by winning the class with his lovely mare Fairooz and this time he drove his winner’s trophy home in a new car awarded by Montreal Car Showroom. The event coincided with the National Show Jumping Course Designing Seminar. The seminar hosted by Atef Shawky a 3* FEI course designer started on Friday with theory sessions continuing the next day and practical sessions held at the championships.
