Gulf Weekly Hoteliers pitch in for charity

Defending champions and hosts, The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa, kicked-off the third edition of the inter-hotels cricket tournament with even higher ambitions.
This year, one more team has been added to the mix raising the number of participating squads to the most ever – 16 teams from various hotels.

With seven players a side and six overs per side, the tournament runs until April 27.
Matches take place from 6pm to 9pm at the Staff Recreation Area of the hotel. The colourful and festive opening ceremony this week was followed by three matches.
A change has been initiated to the rules this year with teams having the option of choosing a two-over powerplay that will allow them to score more. Additionally, a man of the match will also be chosen.
Funds raised from the tournament and food offerings, such as shawarma, fish & chips, and beverages will be donated to the official charity partner, Alia Centre for Autism.
