Friday saw some hardy, addicted players venturing out in Awali Golf Club’s first 18-hole competition of the season.
The mercury was still persistently high with little or no breeze, and being the first day of the Eid Holiday, the field was, unsurprisingly, not large.
Matching the blistering heat with some blistering golf – Paul Warman ran out the winner with an impressive 40 points (24 of those on the back-nine), just edging out Simon Brown on countback.
In third place was Nicky Bailey with 39 points, fourth was new member Jeff Paa and fifth Roberta Trzebinski both on 39 points as well. Peter O’Brien completed the prize winners with 38 points.
Back in the clubhouse, Captain Abdul Elah Fakhroo was master of ceremonies, presented the prizes and then invited the members for some well-deserved refreshments.
