The husband has been left home alone in Bahrain for the summer, like many other expat spouses.

Stoically, holding the fort and earning a crust whilst fending for themselves after a hard day in the office.

Long, lonely weekends with only chores, laundry and grocery shopping to look forward to - the husband has it tough through the long hot summer … so he claims.

Let me put a twist on the husband’s summer in Bahrain, my take on his summer woes may differ slightly, of course.

For starters our lovely Sunandi that usually cleans for us once a week has moved in for the summer to help look after our dog whilst the husband is at work.

In addition to caring for our four-legged family member, Sunandi has taken great delight in preparing delicious fragrant Sri Lankan curries with fried rice for the husband’s evening meals.

His shirts are being starched and pressed similar to the quality of a five star hotel laundry.

Our villa is being cleaned from top to bottom and Sunandi has asked the husband for a shopping list so that she can do it for him.

I thought she moved in to look after the dog!

Bein Sports has been installed (along with the additional payment made which allowed him to watch Sunday’s Euro 2016 final) even though Scotland didn’t even qualify for the tournament! BMMI has also made a delivery and the husband has purchased a second refrigerator.

It’s a hard life.
