The eighth edition of the Bahrain Summer Festival, themed Your Destination Bahrain, has begun with a line-up of activities staged at the Cultural Hall for the entire family to enjoy.
The month-long event is part of a larger initiative aimed at promoting the kingdom as a pioneering hub for cultural tourism, both regionally and globally.
The family-friendly theatrical production Smurfs Live on Stage - Save Spring! aimed at children aged two and above will run from tomorrow until Monday.
Watch as the crazy blue creatures prepare for their annual spring parade, but will they succeed against Gargamel’s evil plot to catch them?
Tomorrow’s show starts at 7.30pm. On Friday there will be performances at 4pm and 7.30pm and on Saturday there will be a triple treat with shows at 11am, 4pm and 7.30pm. On Sunday and Monday, the show runs at 4pm and 7.30pm.
On July 21 a musical tribute concert to celebrate singer Najat Al-Saghera will be staged, organised in cooperation with the Egyptian Embassy. It will start at 8pm with a minimum age of attendance of 10. The concert will feature a selection of Najat’s greatest hits, including her best-known ballads.
The festival wraps up on August 4 with Spanish singer and choreographer Luis de la Carrasca and his Flamenco Vivo Company. The dance and musical show, open to children aged 10 and above, is being held in cooperation with the French Embassy and Alliance Francaise. It starts at 8pm.
The Nakhool Tent, located near the National Museum, will also provide a fun environment for children and adults with a full programme of interactive workshops, events and competitions with festival mascots, Nakhool and Nakhoola.
