COMPETITION - TWO MINUTE TALES

IN recent weeks I’ve written about reluctant readers and now reluctant writers and so I would like to set a challenge to readers of all ages in the form of a competition.

A great way of getting reluctant readers to have a go at a story is to read short stories with them that get to the point quickly but are entertaining at the same time. One of the best means of doing this is through Two Minute Tales, (stories with a beginning, middle and end of approximately 500 words that take only two minutes or so to read).

In the spirit of getting Bahrain reading, we are challenging adults and children to write a Two Minute Tale for children on any topic and in any genre.

There are two categories:

• under 18s

• adults

The winners will each receive a prize plaque with their names emblazoned in all their glory which will be presented by The Editor and the two top entries will be published in GulfWeekly.

The closing date is noon, Thursday, November 17, and entries must include the age of the author.

Get writing! Send your entries to editor@ gulfweekly.com
