The festive season brings with it a set of traditions, some of which are unique to every family or person and some universal. Christmas is generally a universal time to be spent with family, after a man celebrating Bahrain’s National Day creeps into your invisible fireplace having ridden into town with a pack of flying camels disguised with antlers.
New Year’s is where the tradition deviates. While some like to celebrate with family attaining communal food coma, others like to go out with friends and reach for a slightly more liquid coma. So when Lanterns and LNT Gastropub in Block 338, Adliya invited us this week with a promise of something for every kind of New Year’s Eve-goer, I was intrigued.
Lanterns has been the platinum standard of Indian cuisine in the country for as long as I can remember. From tasteful decor that evokes memories of Punjab and Delhi to great gourmet and solid service, going to Lanterns has always been a distinct culinary experience.
The location in Block 338, which is now one of only two Lanterns locations to serve selected beverages, has two distinct experiences – the classical fine dining one downstairs fit for a maharaja and a chill, hipster and millennial friendly LNT Gastropub upstairs.
Both have an unforgettable New Year’s Eve planned and we got a sneak peek at it this year.
