Wednesday (June 16) Studio Ceramics is hosting an experimental mark-making and drawing workshop at its premises in Budaiya with visiting artist Mercy Kagia. Mercy is a 'reportage drawing' artist currently working on a PhD in London researching the use of drawing as a documenting tool and has vast experience in art teaching and workshops, working internationally in the UK, Kenya, Korea and USA. ARTIST Arthur Dsouza is holding a solo exhibition titled 'Pieces of Me' at the Qal'at Al Bahrain Site Museum. Using a technique he refers to as 'positively paper', Arthur creates his work with positive film and coloured paper layered between two sheets of glass, one between the paper fragments and positive film and another on top. It also gives the creations a special luminosity since the glass seems to trap light, while giving the piece something of a 3D effect.
Artist and illustrator Gill Goode is holding an Open House Sale prior to leaving the island in mid July. Jane Barraclough of Desert Diamonds will be hosting the sale on June 24 at her residence Villa 5, Granada Gardens, Jidafs from 8 am. - 2.30 pm and from 5.30 pm - 7 pm. On sale will be desert diamonds and beads, together with artist Gill Goode's cards, original watercolour paintings, prints, maps and gift wrap.
