AER Rianta won the Riffa Views Shaikh Faisal bin Hamad Al Khalifa Memorial Trophy charity golf tournament, which raised BD30,000 in sponsorship.

Organised by the Royal Golf Club on behalf of Bahrain Mobility International the proceeds will go towards the purchase of a wheelchair bus, wheelchairs and to complete a specialised swimming pool for the disabled.

The tournament, which took place over two days, was played in a Team Better Ball Stableford format, with each team of four split into two pairings, each pairing's Better Ball Stableford total were added together to give a team aggregate score.

In each pair, both players played the hole with their own ball, whoever had the best Stableford points on that hole had the score which counted towards the pairing's Better Ball score.

The winning Aer Rianta team, which comprised of Maurice Burke, Jenny Burke, Yousif Majid, and John Mower, managed a score of 92 points.

Runners up were ICAP 3 team with 89 points, comprising Justne Woodmansee, Bill Harrington, Serge El Adm, and Darren Martyn.

Third place went to team Riffa Views 1, comprising Khalid Jassim, Ahmed Sultan, Riyadh Al Saie and Zayed Al Zayani, with 88 points.

The on course Nearest The Pin Winners for the two days were: Friday morning - Petri Kettunen; afternoon - Jim Carless; Saturday morning - Phil Durnford; afternoon - Murray Brown.

Richard Browning, CEO of Riffa Views, said: "The funds raised will not only allow the members of BMI to have mobility with specialised equipment, but will also provide them with a great opportunity to improve their life."
