A balanced approach

No matter what sport you’re watching you will notice that the better the player is, the easier they make it look.

All great sportsmen and women make it look easy and that’s because they’re always in a good, balanced position throughout the action of their particular sport.

When hitting a chip in golf it is vital to finish in a balanced position, which is produced by the correct movement. The position in the backswing and downswing is created by a turn of the body, not just a movement of the arms. Try keeping the weight on the forward foot through the stroke.

Place a tee in the end of the grip and as you finish the shot, make sure that the top of the tee points to the sky, not towards your stomach. If the tee points to your stomach then your wrists have flicked causing inconsistency.

If you would like to know more about improving your golf game, book a lesson with a Royal Golf Club PGA teaching professional by calling 17750777.
