AN art competition to help promote one of Bahrain's most historic sites has been launched and the winning drawings will be made into a postcard and sent all over the world writes Asma Salman.
Adults and children of all ages are urged to highlight the rare artefacts on show at the Qal'at al Bahrain site museum near the Bahrain Fort in Seef.
Dr Nadine Boksmati-Fattouh, director of Qal'at al Bahrain site, said: "Our aim is to attract as many visitors as possible especially children to the site.
"The art competition is a novel way for children and adults to get to know about the importance of the site and the relics that were excavated from Qal'at al Bahrain site.
"We have objects like the Dilmun Stamp Seals, Sacrificial Snakes, Silver Coins dating from 2200 BC till the 7th century AD on display and the entrants can draw their perspective of the site or anything else in the museum that appeals to them."
All the drawings will be displayed at the museum's cafŽ and the winning artistic works will be turned into official postcards. The art competition takes place on Saturday from 10am till noon. For more information, call 17567172.
