HOT parental topics including a talk on swine flu vaccination will be on the agenda at Bahrain's first show which opens today dedicated to mothers, pregnant women and babies.
Alongside the serious issues the organisers have promised 'plenty of fun and excitement' for all age groups and they will be showcasing a variety of family activities to attract parents to the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre in Sanabis.
Magnum Events and Exhibition Management, in partnership with Non Stop Promotions Lebanon, is organising the event under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and President of the Supreme Council for Women.
Organisers say it will showcase the most up-to-date products and services available for mothers and mums-to-be and not forgetting babies and toddlers too. It will feature an abundance of accessories, toddler and maternity clothing, toys, gifts, prams and carriers, and other accessories for babies. The event will showcase more than 60 exhibitors offering information on wellness, education and learning, childcare, nurseries, beauty and hygiene, among others.
The show will also feature talks and presentations on healthcare. Speakers include Dr Somaya Al Jowder who will talk about 'Prevention & Precaution of AIDS to babies', Dr Fadheela Al Mahroos on 'Swine Flu: Why I should vaccinate my child ?' Dr Preetha Achumon on 'Essential of Breast Feeding' , Dr Paulita Abastillas on 'First Aid for the Choking Infant', Dr Leila Edwards on 'Hypno-birthing and Active Child Birth' , Dr Philip Edwards on 'Super learning for kids' , Dr Jofrelyn Bistoyong on 'Paediatric Allergies' , Dr Bushra Al Sayed on 'Services of the Bahrain Centre for Child Protection' and Dr Maan Mesmeh on 'Infant Milestones'.
A show spokesman said: "The show will feature children's entertainment and great things to see and do for all the family. The activities are taking place on the sidelines to ensure mums and little ones are kept engaged throughout the event. It will showcase a variety of competitions, live demonstrations and fun programmes specifically for children.
"Each evening we will have a programme of fun interactive ativities that are free. These include magic shows, juggling, hip hop dance, free haircuts, henna painting, science shows, gym and martial arts."
The show will also feature a children's fashion show sponsored by Lulu Hypermarket, Prenatal, Wenice and Bubs Boutique and organised by Summer Al Baradie and Haifa Yaseen.
Children can enjoy a Play Zone sponsored by Silly Billy Games and a face painting area has been sponsored by Open Sesame and Fast Track Kids to amuse the tots.
And, Al Tayer Group Dubai is sponsoring a feeding area and crawling competition with attractive prizes.
A dedicated baby care area is available in case mums would like to walk around the show leaving their babies to be cared for by professional staff from My Gym Children's Fitness Centre.
There will a Baby Changing room sponsored by American Mission hospital and a lounge area for the visitors.
Light snacks and juices will be available from the BAS cafŽ. The official decoration is sponsored by Bloom n Fantasy and children will be able to enjoy fun balloons throughout the venue.
Additionally, there are exciting prizes, including free air tickets, to be won through daily raffle draws
