The sixth annual Think Pink Bahrain Ladies Charity Golf Day at the Royal Golf Club was a huge success once again this year, raising over BD10,000 for the breast cancer awareness charity.
The team of Sara Axtell, Gill Perras, Evelyn Sword and Camilla Davidsen narrowly won first prize in the Montgomerie championship course Texas Scramble tournament with a net score of 62. The team of Jeong Hae Kwak, Koung Suk Lee, Eun Mi Shin and Sun Hee Kim came a very close second with a net 62.2.
Meanwhile, the 9-hole competition held on the Royal Golf Club's Wee Monty course for less experienced golfers was won by the team of Yvonne Newall, Amanda Douglas, Deborah Hatfield and Alison Hazel with a score of 28.
"All the ladies had a fantastic time although I think the cart decoration beforehand excites the ladies just as much as the golf!" joked Phil Jones, the Royal Golf Club's director of golf operations. "Around 120 ladies took part in total and to make the tournament even more exciting, sponsors provided a number of side contest prizes including one for the best-dressed golf cart."
"Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we were all delighted to hear how much the event raised for Think Pink Bahrain," added Dena Wales, the Royal Golf Club's Lady Captain. "I would like to thank all the sponsors for their generosity including Optima who provided the lovely pink golf shirts for all the competitors."
The day was rounded off with a prize-giving ceremony and lunch in the Royal Golf Club's Majlis building which was decorated with the i-check logo.
Think Pink operates under the umbrella of the Bahrain Cancer Society and is dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer in Bahrain.
Sponsors of the 2010 Think Pink Bahrain Ladies Golf Day were BMI, Harley Davidson, Gulf Air, Mercure Hotel, Hempel Paints, AWA, Porsche, Balmoral Services, Riffa Views International School, Seef Dental, Infiniti, Trowers & Hamlins, Bahrain International Circuit, Gulf Brands and Highland Water (Jawad Group).
