Depending on which side of the fence you sit, you’ll either pronounce the current year as ‘Two Thousand and Twelve’ or the more popular ‘Twenty Twelve’, but either way may I wish each and every one of you a happy and prosperous 2012 (cue people, pronouncing it both ways just to test the system!).
Last year saw many new talented artists proving that music production isn’t dead, and all those new albums swept through the music industry like a breath of fresh air. There are also quite a few names to keep an eye on this time around too – watch out for Rachel Platten who managed a Top 30 hit (1,000 Ships!) without the aid of a major record label, Lana Del Rey who procured a record deal after her first single stormed the internet download sites with many experts saying she could be the Adele of 2012 … and also keep an eye out for Scar On 45, Alabama Shakes, Electric Guest, Kendrick Lamar and Frank Ocean. So, it’s that time of year where we all make those resolutions to save more money, lose weight and get fit, and it will be interesting to see how many stick to those promises.
In true Music Box style here is a list of songs to help motivate you all to reach your goals:
Donna Summer - She Works Hard For The Money Beatles - With A Little Help From My Friends Chicane feat Bryan Adams - Don’t Give It Up George Benson - Never Give Up On A Good Thing Dannii Minogue - Don’t Wanna Lose This Feeling Bananarama - The Runner Lucid - I Can’t Help Myself
I am looking forward to the challenges of 2012 and once again wish you all happiness and good times for the near future.
Until next week listeners, let me leave you with this little gem: “Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit – wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad!”
