Eleven teams are vying for victory in the highly-competitive Bahrain Expat Football League, which has just entered into its sixth season.

Launched in 2010, the competition offers the expatriate social communities in Bahrain an opportuinity to come together to share, compete and develop their love of the game.

It is governed by a league committee under nominated chairman leadership, league secretary, treasurer, referees’ representative and member representation from each playing team, following the rules of the English FA.

Having previously played at the British School of Bahrain in Hamala, the league is now hosted at a new venue – Batelco, in Hamala. Matches are played on Monday and Wednesday evening each week.

This season sees Arabian Celts, Celts Legends, Dilmun Club, Jurassic Juniors, Oak FC, Trust Re, Environment Arabia BC, league newcomers Dafoori FC and Delmon Precast & Readymix, plus two founder member teams, namely The British School of Bahrain and St Christopher’s School. Matches are played ‘home and away’ and the season ends with the GulfWeekly-sponsored cup and plate competitions.

Last season’s winners The British Club of Bahrain now play under a new sponsorship name of Environment Arabia, and have kicked off their season in fine form.
