Over the last few days here at the Royal Golf Club the wind has picked up and is presenting players with a test on the course.
One of the great things about golf is that no two rounds are the same and when it comes to playing in windy conditions, you have to embrace the challenge and not be overwhelmed by the experience!
* Choose the right club. Into the wind, select more club as your normal flight distance will be less and use less club when downwind as the ball will fly further.
* Widen your stance for better balance and this will shorten your swing for good control.
* Hold slightly further down than normal and swing at an easy tempo to ensure good contact. Hitting the ball slightly softer puts less spin on the ball giving you more control.
* In a cross wind, don’t fight it! Trust your instincts and aim accordingly left or right of the target.
Experience is your biggest asset in difficult conditions so don’t shy away - get out on the course and enjoy the challenge!
