The Culture Vultures are hosting the Arthouse Open Studios 2009 event from May 14 to 23 at the Banyan Tree Desert Spa and Resort. Twenty eight of Bahrain's prominent artists will perform during the event.
It will have bus tours, children's passports and other activities including a special event for children organised at the Bahrain Fort Village and Farm by Abbas Almosawi. For details contact Deborah Lanyon on 39459621.
In partnership with the Culture Vultures during Art House Open Studio, Studio Ceramics in Budiaya will also have a number of events.
Bahrain-based artist Manuella Mavromichalis will conduct a clay workshop as part of the programme on May 16, from 10.30am to 12.30pm
The 'Pandora's Box' workshop will offer children the chance to decorate and paint a box ready to be glazed and fired and collected one week later. Rate is BD10 including tuition, clay, all painting materials, firing and finishing.
On May 17 from 10 to 11.30am and from noon to 1.30pm, Studio Ceramics will offer a ceramic painting course for women - PYOP (Paint Your Own Pottery). Price is BD12 including white bisque dinner plate, instructions, all painting materials, firing and finishing.
On May 23 from 3pm to 5pm a children's ceramics painting workshop will be held - 'Painting on Bisque: Sgraffito with Cynthia Ikponmwonba.
Price is BD10 including bisque bowl or plate, tuition, all painting materials, firing and finishing.
