AWALI Golf Club (AGC) will be hosting the
BH-UK-200 Open Golf Day on Friday, November 4, joining in a calendar of events
to mark the 200th anniversary of the relationship between Bahrain and the UK.
The competition will be sponsored by Bapco
and Mohammed Jalal & Sons to recognise the significant role Bapco and sport
in general have played in the development of the kingdom over the last 80
years.
Entry to the 18-hole stroke-play event will
be open to all Bahrain-based golfers with a valid golf handicap. There will be
shotgun starts at 7am and 1pm.
It will be free for AGC members and BD10
for non-members and will include a prize-giving supper at 6pm.
Club Captain Bill Scarth said: “As the
oldest golf course in the region, the Awali Golf Club is delighted to be
hosting the BHUK 200 Open Golf Competition.
“Celebrating the 200 year relationship
between the UK and Bahrain, the competition allows any handicapped golfer on
the island the chance to pit their skills against the legendary ‘Awali bounce’
and also sample the equally legendary ‘AGC hospitality’.
“We have been providing golfing
competitions to Bahraini, British and many other nationalities of golfers for
the last 79 years and, just as Bahrain is renowned for the warmth of its
welcome, so too is AGC!”
